Norton Rose Fulbright advises Upwell Water on equity investment
United States | Press release - Business | August 10, 2020
Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright advised Upwell Water LLC, a San Francisco-based water-focused specialty finance company, in its equity investment from Crestview Partners.
Crestview's investment in Upwell Water, in conjunction with a prior commitment from the 2040 Fund — which Norton Rose Fulbright also handled — will provide Upwell Water with equity capital to deploy US$1 billion into water-focused investments. This equity investment from Crestview is the second-largest water infrastructure financing deal in 2020.
The financing will support Upwell Water's mission of facilitating sustainable water solutions around the world. Specifically, the deal provides immediate liquidity for investments in water-related assets, including water treatment plants, water rights, related equipment and pipelines.
Upwell Water provides capital to the water industry, helping to provide a sustainable future by working with water-related businesses and assets. Founded in 2004, Crestview primarily invests in media, financial services and industrial sectors.
Damian Georgino led Norton Rose Fulbright's representation of Upwell on this deal. He was assisted by Garry Padrta (Los Angeles), Michael Flamenbaum (New York) and Steven Bovino (New York).
