Norton Rose Fulbright helps Alupar Investimentos secure US$139.9M loan for Colombian transmission line construction

A cross-border team from Norton Rose Fulbright advised Alupar Investimentos, through its Colombian subsidiary Transmisora Colombiana de Energia S.A.S. E.S.P., on the obtainment of a US$139.9 million loan from a syndicate of international banks for the construction of the La Virginia-Nueva Esperanza transmission line in Colombia.
The transaction is the first international project financing in Colombia for the construction of a transmission line. The project is a key strategic initiative of the Government of Colombia as part of its 15-year Energy Expansion Plan. The 500 Kv transmission line spans 236 km through central Colombia.
The Norton Rose Fulbright team was led by Daniel Spencer with assistance from Jose Cobena and Cameron Royse (São Paulo), as well as Andrew Coronios, Marian Baldwin Fuerst and Kevin Prokup (New York).
