Welcome to MEC at Norton Rose Fulbright
The Multicultural Equity Council (MEC) is comprised of racially and ethnically diverse lawyers and business services personnel at Norton Rose Fulbright US LLP. The MEC’s mission is to support the recruitment, retention, advancement and promotion of the firm’s racially and ethnically diverse personnel. The MEC also liaises with firm leadership, the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Committee, the DEI team, and the firm’s councils and networks to advance Norton Rose Fulbright’s overall diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.
Leadership
The MEC co-chairs are Daniel Prati (Houston) and Rebecca Abou-Chedid (Washington, DC).
Our objectives
- Encouraging the recruitment, retention, advancement and promotion of the firm’s multicultural personnel
- Providing guidance to firm management on the development and implementation of multicultural inclusive policies
- Developing relationships and partnerships with clients and other external organizations engaged in the advancement of diverse talent
Initiatives and activities
Our initiatives and activities focus on promoting our mission and objectives in several key areas, including:
- Sponsorship and productivity of racially and ethnically diverse lawyers
- Recruiting and integrating diverse law students, lawyers and business services personnel
- Improving developmental and advancement opportunities for diverse business services personnel
