The DWP has laid before Parliament amending regulations that will require trustees to calculate and disclose a metric describing the extent to which their scheme’s investments are aligned with the goal set out in the Paris Agreement of limiting the increase in global average temperature to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.

The Occupational Pension Schemes (Climate Change Governance and Reporting) (Amendment, Modification and Transitional Provision) Regulations 2022 come into force on October 1, 2022.

On February 2, 2024, the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union confirmed that the Committee of Permanent Representatives had signed the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Regulation, referred to as the AI Act. Approval by the EU Parliament followed on 13 March 2024, and the AI Act is likely to appear in the EU’s Official Journal around May 2024.
