Norton Rose Fulbright provided pro bono support for Penal Reform International

Thailand Press release - Business May 2022

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright provided pro bono support to Penal Reform International (PRI) to carry out research into the extent to which government entities in Thailand took measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in local prisons.

PRI is an non-governmental organisation working to promote human rights within criminal justice systems. The research will be used by PRI as a key advocacy and lobby tool with the national governments and also provide insightful recommendations on the policy which PRI can refer to.

The Norton Rose Fulbright team supporting the research was led by partner Tassanai Kiratisountorn. Other team members includes Teerin Vanikieti, Thanthiti Seneewong Na Ayudthaya, Methawat Wongsuwat and Thanaporn Sangrompo.

Tassanai Kiratisountorn commented: “We’re delighted to have assisted Penal Reform International on their research and provided insights to support the NGO in resolving prison overcrowding and to focus on human rights of all people, including prisoners.”

Norton Rose Fulbright’s Thailand team advises on local law issues relating to investments from a range of regional and international organisations particularly in the financial services, energy and infrastructure sectors.
