Professional Regulation
We operate under certificates granted by the Ministry of Justice of the People's Republic of China and are registered with the All China Lawyers’ Association. The licensing bodies are the Beijing Municipal Judicial Bureau and the Shanghai Bureau of Justice.
In both offices we have:
- England and Wales qualified solicitors and registered foreign lawyers (RFLs), who are additionally authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). - foreign qualified lawyers, who are admitted in their respective home jurisdiction.
Complaints Procedures
We are determined to ensure that all complaints are sensitively, sensibly and satisfactorily resolved. Please refer to our complaints policy here.
In addition, in the PRC disciplinary issues and complaints are dealt with by the applicable local lawyers’ association or judicial administrative authority with jurisdiction for the matter.
Professional indemnity Insurance
Indemnity insurance is mandatory for practising lawyers in the PRC and is handled by the provincial lawyers' association.
In addition, we maintain professional indemnity insurance cover as required by the Solicitors Regulation Authority of England and Wales Indemnity Insurance Rules 2013, on a world-wide basis with two Lloyds Syndicates: QBE Syndicate 0386, QBE Syndicate 1886 and Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance. In cases where professional indemnity insurance is required to be placed locally in accordance with statute or regulation, details of such policies can be provided upon request by the General Counsel in London.
