Grant applications open for those affected by Los Angeles fires

Grants are available to current or former individuals affiliated with Norton Rose Fulbright US LLP, including part-time and full-time employees, substantially full-time contractors and consultants, and certain family members of both employees and contractors (child, parent, spouse, surviving spouse and parent of spouse). These individuals will be eligible for a grant without regard to the employee’s years of service, position, duties, or performance for the firm.

In order to be considered for a grant, individuals must submit a grant application to the firm’s charitable organization, the Fulbright & Jaworski Foundation, through Mya Potts. All applications will be reviewed blindly by the Foundation’s Selection Committee and grants will be issued as soon as possible following receipt of applications.

Awarded grants are intended to assist with personal, family and living expenses incurred as a result of the devastating fires which have recently impacted the Los Angeles area, including medical expenses, temporary living accommodations and home damage. Grant recipients will be required to agree in writing to use money awarded solely for this purpose.

Grant recipients also must agree to notify the Selection Committee of reimbursements received from another source, such as insurance or FEMA. The Selection Committee will make its decisions based on an objective determination of need, without knowledge of the applicants’ identities and, in so doing, will consider several factors regarding an applicant’s situation, including financial need and expenses incurred. Importantly, the Selection Committee will keep confidential all private information and documentation.

A notice has been posted on the firm’s website together with the grant application in an effort to reach out to our former employees who may need support. The firm continues its efforts to determine the full impact of the fires in Los Angeles have had on all employees. If you suffered damage (whether minor or major) or had to evacuate, and have not had a discussion with an HR representative, please contact Mya Potts. We appreciate the opportunity to hear from you – even if you are not applying for a grant.
