Biography

Angelos Vlazakis is an antitrust and competition lawyer based in Brussels. He represents corporate clients on matters involving the complete spectrum of European competition and international antitrust law, including antitrust investigations and merger control.

Angelos has a particular focus on multijurisdictional mergers and acquisitions and cartel investigations, and has advised several clients before the European Commission, the UK Competition and Markets Authority, and other national competition authorities, from a diverse set of industries ranging from technology and manufacturing to travel and entertainment.

Prior to joining the firm, Angelos worked for the EU competition law and global antitrust practice of a leading US-based law firm in Brussels and the Hellenic Parliament. During his previous employment, Angelos most notably advised: 

  • DuPont De Nemours, Inc. in the merger control filing of its divestiture of the M&M Business to Celanese Corporation before the EC and several NCAs
  • Konecranes Plc. in the merger control aspects of its merger of equals with Cargotec Corporation before the EC, the CMA and several NCAs
  • E. Musk in the USD 43 billion takeover of Twitter, Inc.
  • SK Hynix, Inc. in its USD 9 billion acquisition of the NAND and SSD business of Intel Corporation
  • Amazon.com, Inc. in the merger control filing of the iRobot Corporation acquisition before the EC and the CMA
  • Sports association on the antitrust implications of sanctions against members participating in third-party tournaments

Abuse of Dominance:

  • Advising a major multi-national diagnostic services provider in association with the leniency application and the internal compliance review for potential 101 TFEU and 102 TFEU violations
  • Advising ExxonMobil Corporation in association with antitrust compliance of gas extraction projects off-shore Cyprus
  • Advising a national airline in an EU member state in association with a complaint for non-allocation of take-off and landing slots
  • Advising a global government services provider is association with an antitrust inquiry in a non-EU member state

Foreign Subsidies Regulation:

  • Representing bp p.lc. in the FSR filing of the GETEC Energie acquisition before the EC
  • Advising a major US-based investment fund in the DD exercise of collecting the financial contributions received by the fund’s portfolio companies

Merger control:

  • Representing bp p.l.c. in the merger control filing of the GETEC Energie acquisition before the EC
  • Advising a major EU-based manufacturer of food and pharma ingredients in association with the merger control and FDI aspects of the contemplated acquisition of a US-based competitor
