Noella Ngugi
Business and Legal Operations Trainee
About me
I joined Norton Rose Fulbright as a Business and Legal Operations Trainee in August 2024 after completing my English Literature degree at the University of Warwick.
My journey to joining the Business and Legal Operations Graduate (BLOG) scheme was quite the adventure. Initially, during my A-levels, I planned to study English Literature at university and then complete a conversion course to become a lawyer. However, once at university, I decided to explore various roles and industries, which led me to discover a unique interest in business operations, strategy, and technology—though I was still uncertain about my exact career path. The BLOG scheme stood out to me because it encapsulates all my career interests to date into one comprehensive program. It offers the opportunity to rotate within four dynamic and innovative teams, allowing me to further narrow down my interests. I’m excited about this new journey in my career and can’t wait to see where it leads me!
From
I was born in Nairobi, Kenya and grew up in Reading, UK.
Fun fact
I can sing and harmonise to any song in soprano, alto, and tenor – although, my vocal range comfortably sits in the lower female register, so I mainly sing alto and tenor. This versatility comes in very handy when I’m singing in groups and choirs, as it allows me to float between parts as needed.
Previously
During my studies, I worked in various roles, including tutoring KS3 and GCSE students in English, interning at a global financial audit firm and a public relations and advertising company, and serving as an Administration Support Officer for an events company.
Best part of the job
My team is incredibly supportive, and I love that my role allows me to see how all the other teams interact and intersect, giving me exposure to many different parts of the business. There are always opportunities to take on new and exciting work, allowing me to make the role my own by focusing on the projects I find most interesting and developing the skills I want to enhance. Plus, the work culture and all my colleagues are really lovely—there’s never a dull moment in the office!
