EMEA | March 13, 2025 and May 20, 2025

Presenting confidently is vital for everyone. In professional environments and industries where individuals may be under-represented, such as maritime, they may face additional challenges or biases. Having confidence equips individuals to voice their ideas effectively and navigate the complexities of their roles with poise and assurance.

Norton Rose Fulbright’s Women in Maritime network, in support of the Maritime Speakers Bureau (an initiative between WISTA International and the International Maritime Organization), is delighted to invite you to participate in two online training sessions that have been specifically designed to help women working in the maritime sector present confidently, and make a positive impact.

The sessions, outlined below, will be delivered virtually by Norton Rose Fulbright, and will be interactive. They are designed as complementary sessions but can be attended in isolation.

Self-promotion and building self-confidence

Thursday, March 13, 2025 | 13:00 - 14:15 GMT

Everyone wants to feel and project self-confidence. For some, it comes naturally, while others can find it more challenging to varying degrees and can be overcome by imposter syndrome. All this matters as a person’s level of confidence can significantly impact both their personal and professional life. This session explores what imposter syndrome is and provides strategies to help you manage your inner critic and project more confidence both inside and outside of the workplace.

Take control of difficult situations

Tuesday, May 20, 2025 | 13:00 - 14:15 BST

Difficult situations are a fact of life. However, reading the situation and reacting thoughtfully, using the right tools and approach, can help to neutralise challenging behaviour and lead to more harmonious working relationships.

Launched in 2023, the Maritime Speakers Bureau, is an initiative between the International Maritime Organization and WISTA International with the aim to end all-male speaking panels. Since its inception the initiative has made significant inroads; 350+ women are now signed up to the platform which is accessed by event organizers globally, resulting in a notable increase in women participating in panel discussions and being invited to speak at industry events.
