Various important themes and topics were discussed at this year’s COP26, including the urgent need for decarbonisation in all parts of the world. Indonesia was one of the countries that faced growing pressure at the summit to reduce its carbon emissions. Andrew Digges, a projects partner in Singapore, commented in an article published during COP26 on Indonesia’s recent commitments to decarbonisation and phasing out of coal-fired power and on some of the challenges it faces in reducing coal consumption and relying more on renewable energy.

Andrew also highlights the importance of substantial support from the global community by providing the technical know-how and financial support necessary to help Indonesian achieve its admirable but challenging goals.

The commentary was originally published on Channel NewsAsia on 11 November 2021.
