The EU Commission has adopted a proposed AI Regulation. As AI proliferates, the Regulation will impact virtually all industry sectors and have far-reaching implications for a wide range of activities, such as product development, procurement, human resources, compliance, governance, IT systems, contracting, and risk management.

The Regulation imposes obligations on a large number of stakeholders in the value chain for AI systems, from software developers to manufacturers of products incorporating such software, to importers, distributors and end users. Businesses need to understand now what the Regulation will require them to do.

In this webinar, members of our multi-disciplinary AI practice (including a computer scientist specializing in AI) consider:

  • What AI is in scope?
  • How to classify AI under the Regulation
  • Who is regulated, and what are the obligations?
  • Impact on AI lifecycles
  • EU governance structures
  • Enforcement and penalties
  • Data and ethics under the Regulation
  • Contractual implications for AI supply chains
  • Timing and engaging in the legislative process

This webinar was recorded on 19 October 2021.
