Interview with Associates
Find out from the current Juniors what life at NRF is like
Are you curious to find out what the beginning of your career as a Junior Associate looks like at NRF? Please find below some findings of our Juniors, of which some began as Student Intern or Worker and some were directly introduced at this level.
‘You will get challenging work as an Associate and I am learning something new every day. The personal and professional development is really something I particularly value.’ – Yifrandy Sanchez Peralta
Each of them had different reasons for joining NRF, with Yifrandy and Alwin looking for an international firm, Marjolein looking for an office where she could work on both Tax and Corporate matters as per her studies and prior experience, Alexander wanting to join a growing Banking & Finance team, and Elizabeth looking to join a corporate financial crime department, which is quite niche in the Dutch market.
‘While you’re still a student, I would recommend to explore your interests by taking as many opportunities as you can, trying different internships in various types of companies and organizations – and also, if you have the opportunity, try and go somewhere abroad!’ – Elizabeth Bosman
A piece of advice mentioned by all Juniors was to try and do as many internships, Business Courses and work experience as you can in different firms. In this way you can learn what suits you best, both culturally as well as what field you would like to further specialise in.
‘One of the most challenging parts of the role is also my favourite – getting thrown in at the deep end and given responsibility straight away. As I reflect on the last couple of years, I can see how far I have come already.’ – Marjolein Lensing
When asking the team about challenging perceptions of becoming a lawyer, it was a running theme of given complex work from day one. It was soon followed up with how all teams were supportive and would guide and mentor them through these situations.
‘Working at an international law firm is sometimes demanding. Clients expect you to work swiftly, but in particular to provide them with high-quality advise. This combination is what makes the work exciting, every day. A welcoming office, where you can ask anyone for support, really helps you finding your way as a Junior.’ – Alexander Govers
The recruitment process is carefully compiled in order to ensure long-term successes for both parties. We highly value a personal match and getting to know the colleagues during the entire process. An example hereof is scheduling informal coffees with team members in the initial phase.
‘Getting along with all of your colleagues and various social events are just some of the extra’s at NRF. Finding a social office was one of my main priorities when looking for a role.’ – Alwin Kroon
As all their backgrounds are unique, our Juniors , through the internships they did, the courses they studied the teams they joined – they are all great additions to NRF bringing fresh ideas and diverse backgroundbring fresh ideas and different perspectivess. We look forward to seeing these Associatesthem grow with NRF and we hope you want to join us on your future career too!
