Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has advised French company EOLFI, one of world’s main actors in floating wind projects development, and Cobra Concesiones, a Spanish industrial company specialised in renewable energies, on the completion of their partnership in Taiwan. Cobra’s shareholding in Eolfi Greater China, a subsidiary of EOLFI, has been active in Taiwan since 2012. The merger was completed on December 21, 2017 and will mean will Cobra will become Eolfi Greater China’s main shareholder.
The partnership between the two companies will particularly foster the development project of five commercial floating wind farms, with a target size of 500 MW each, initiated by Eolfi Greater China and planned to be commissioned by 2022. This project should create the biggest commercial floating wind farm in the world.
Anne Lapierre, head of energy in Paris, commented:
“We are proud to have advised Eolfi and Cobra Concesiones on this operation that marks a new stage in the development of floating wind farms projects. This partnership will create synergies between these two companies and confirms the growing trend of wind energy projects in Asia and on a global scale.”
The Norton Rose Fulbright team advising EOLFI and Cobra Concesiones was led by Anne Lapierre, assisted by of counsel Thomas Rabain and associate Pierre Thévenin Montefiore.
Other legal counsel: Law firm Lee and Li, Attorneys-at-Law, with a team led by Julia K. F. Yung, also advised both parties on the Taiwanese law aspects of the transaction.
