Session 1: The Mining – Energy nexus: challenges and opportunities | 08:00 for 08:30 - 10:00

Join us for a panel discussion which will be held in-person and online, where we will be discussing the increasing partnerships between the mining and energy sectors. Both the opportunities to be found and and the challenges faced will be explored by our panel of local and global industry experts, who have real-world experience in establishing these kinds of projects in South Africa and around the world.

Christina Pretorius, Mining Sector Leader in South Africa will be facilitating the panel and The Norton Rose Fulbright panellists include Matthew Ash, head of energy in South Africa, Simon Cudennec, an energy partner in our Paris office and Amedeo Buonajuti, a director at Energy Group.

Session 2: Localisation in Tanzania: In conversation with the Commissioner| 10:30 12:00

We will also be hosting a second session in which Dr A Mwanga, Commissioner of Mining in Tanzania, will be addressing building local industrial capacity for the domestic market and for export markets, and taking questions in relation to the practical implementation of localisation requirements in Tanzania.
