EMEA Press release - People October 2024

Norton Rose Fulbright’s EMEA Chair Farmida Bi CBE has been included in Financial News’ 100 Most Influential Women in European Finance list 2024 for the sixth consecutive year.

The annual list, now in its 18th year, ‘recognises senior women in financial, legal and professional services who are forging their way in an industry that is still male-dominated and helping to support the next generation of female talent.’

Farmida has been Norton Rose Fulbright’s EMEA Chair since 2018 and is recognised for her three decades of legal experience within debt capital markets and Islamic finance.

Alongside this role, she is Chair of Trustees for the Barbican Centre Trust, which raises funding for the Barbican – the largest performing arts centre in Europe – and for the Patchwork Foundation, a charity that promotes engagement in politics and civil society for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, as well as being Vice-Chair of the Disasters Emergency Committee which brings together fifteen leading UK charities to raise funds quickly in a humanitarian emergency.

Farmida is also Chair of the International Regulatory Strategy Group Council and is a member of the Board of CityUK. She is an Honorary Fellow of Downing College, Cambridge and of The Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Commenting on her latest inclusion in the list, Farmida said:

“It is always a great privilege to be included in the Financial News’ 100 Most Influential Women in European Finance and I am delighted to be counted amongst such a strong list of influential women in the financial sector. Our firm remains committed to driving positive change for women so that we create a level playing field for everyone and allow all our people to achieve their potential.”
