Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has advised battery materials company Euro Manganese Inc (Euro Manganese) on an agreement with Orion for a US$100M funding package to advance the development of the Chvaletice Manganese Project in the Czech Republic.
The innovative waste recycling initiative entails re-processing a significant manganese deposit contained in waste from a decommissioned mine. It will be the only manganese resource in the European Union and is of strategic importance to domestic electric vehicle battery supply chains, and the energy transition.
The multi-disciplinary team at Norton Rose Fulbright was led by Partner Martin McCann and was supported by Counsel Phil Benger and Associate Chenez Dyer-Bray. The team acted as international legal counsel to Euro Manganese, advising on all legal aspects of the deal.
Martin McCann said:
“We are now seeing real maturity in battery financings and depth in our deal pipeline.
“Our client’s project plays a vital part in Europe securing its own reliable battery supply chain.
“Within the last few months, we have advised Eramet on its major lithium financing, Appian on the upstream and downstream aspects of its graphite investment and now this major financing for Euro Manganese. Our deal pipeline for next year looks even stronger.”
With a combined team of over 1,500 lawyers across all practice areas, Norton Rose Fulbright has one of the largest and most prolific energy, infrastructure and natural resources teams of any law firm in the world.
