New FCPA advisory opinion on forced payments

For businesses in Turkey and around the world, navigating increasingly complex FCPA regulations can be a challenge. On January 21, 2022, at the request of a US based company, the US Department of Justice (DOJ) issued an advisory opinion relating to forced payments. The FCPA Opinion Procedure Release (OPR) is of interest to businesses in Turkey because the case deals with (1) the real-world issue of potentially non-compliant payments made under duress as well as (2)  the practical limits on the ability of businesses to request FCPA OPRs based on factual situations.
