What now for employment lawyers and HR professionals?

Following the Labour Party victory at the General Election on July 4, we will be considering the effect of the new government’s employment policies for employment lawyers and HR practitioners. This includes:

• Changes to employment status – will there be a move away from the current framework to a new single status of worker?
• The extension of unfair dismissal – what will the effect of removing a two year qualifying period be for employers?
• The introduction of new day one rights – what other rights will workers receive from the first day of employment and what effect will this have on the recruitment process.
• New obligations for an equal workplace.
