Biography
Nunzio Bicchieri is a banking and finance and projects lawyer based in Milan. His practice is focused on the infrastructure, energy and real estate sectors.
Nunzio has more than 20 years' experience and has advised on some of the largest project finance/project bond transactions in Italy, including: the A3 and A21 Toll Roads Projects, the Stretto di Messina Project, the Brebemi Highway Project, the Pedemontana Lombarda and Pedemontana Veneta Toll Roads Projects, Lines 4 and 5 of the Milan Underground Projects and Line D of the Rome Underground Project, the Florence Tramway Project, as well as numerous renewable energy and waste to energy projects. He also has extensive experience advising in the context of M&A and private equity deals in the energy and infrastructure sectors.
Prior to joining the firm, Nunzio worked for leading international and domestic law firms in Italy.
His practice focuses on judicial and extra-judicial activity for international sponsors, financial institutions and industrial companies (both domestic and foreign) as well as for public entities, with particular reference to the following areas:
- Contractual arrangements relating to energy and infrastructure projects, with particular reference to key commercial contract such as EPC and O&M as well as drafting prospectus and other ancillary documentation in connection with project bond initiatives
- Carrying out of public infrastructures even through project finance/project bond schemes, providing assistance for both sponsors and lenders
- Contracts entered into with public authorities, namely: public works, public service and public supply contracts (both during the tender phase and during the course of the execution of the contract), BOT concessions, real estate/lease financing as well as transactions involving publicly owned companies
- Local public services sector and relevant operation models, namely: public-private companies, special companies owned by the public sector and public service concessions to private parties
- Public utilities, with particular reference to the sectors recently opened to the competitive market, e.g. healthcare, energy, gas and water sector;
- Health and safety regulations, with focus on H&S measures to be implemented at construction/work sites
- environmental law and public law, with specific reference to the administrative procedures for obtaining permits, authorizations, licences and nihil obstats necessary for the construction and operation of infrastructures as well as activities subject to public regulation
- Structured finance transactions involving public authorities, such as securitisation of claims of public authorities or against public authorities
- Town planning and real estate transactions (industrial areas, malls, business centres, residential districts, etc.), with specific reference to town planning and permitting, especially in relation to the development of industrial initiatives for both brownfield and greenfield projects
