Biography
Omar Khattab is a dispute resolution lawyer based in Dubai.
Omar has an extensive client base regularly advising major corporates, government entities and private wealth clients on complex, cross-border disputes. He has extensive experience in advising on a broad range of disputes, including commercial, banking, construction and insurance disputes. His practice also focusses on asset tracing and recovery, as well as reputation and crisis management.
Omar has experience in advising corporates, financial institutions and senior executives on cross-border investigations and white-collar crimes, including advising on cybercrimes, fraud, bribery, corruption, money laundering, breach of trust, embezzlement, forgery and dissipation of confidential information. He routinely advises clients on extradition, mutual legal assistance requests and extra-territorial criminal activity.
Omar works across the MENA region, predominantly in the UAE, Egypt and the KSA, where he has been practicing law for more than 10 years.

- Lawyer, qualified in Egypt 2007
- A major asset recovery fund - in pursuing multi-jurisdictional recovery proceedings arising out of unpaid facilities owed by multiple debtors around the globe. The matter involves a large-scale asset recovery strategy with proceedings in the UK, US, Canada and Middle East valued at over US$250m.
- A leading regional bank - in relation to filing a claim against a prominent conglomerate, obtaining a final enforceable judgement for an amount of AED345m and recovering under that judgement.
- An African state - in relation to civil proceedings for the recovery of public funds amounting to US$22m. Investigated and traced assets to secure repayment.
- A private equity fund - in relation to filing a successful application for an indirect action against the creditor of their debtor for the recovery of an amount of AED41m.
- An Arabic state - in respect of investigations into several governmental bodies in preparation for an ICSID arbitration filed against it for an amount of US$645m.
- A Swiss commodities trading conglomerate - in relation to criminal proceedings filed against a counterparty for fraud amounting to approximately US$562m.
- A major chain of cinema theatres - in relation to filing criminal proceedings against their former CEO and COO for breach of trust amounting to approximately the equivalent of US$6.5m. Assisted the Public Prosecution to secure a conviction throughout the process.
- An international FMCG conglomerate - in filing an extradition request against an individual to extradite them to the United Arab Emirates.
