Norton Rose Fulbright advises on Supported Finance Deal of the Year and Restructuring Deal of the Year at 2025 Aviation 100 Awards

Global Press release - Recognition January 2025

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright’s aviation team has again been recognised for its work advising on the Supported Finance Deal of the Year and Restructuring Deal of the Year at the annual Aviation 100 Global Leaders Awards for 2025.

The Awards, now in their fourteenth year, are organised by aviation industry publication Airline Economics in celebration of leading companies, individuals and transactions in the aviation finance and leasing sector that have excelled during the previous year.

Norton Rose Fulbright advised Société Générale as lender, lead arranger, facility agent and ECA agent on the Supported Finance Deal of the Year, which was supported by Bpifrance Assurance Export.

The winning deal is Bpifrance Assurance Export’s first engine shop visit financing transaction for Pegasus Airline relating to CFM International SA engines, a joint-venture between General Electrics and Safran Aircraft Engines. It covers several batches of engines and associated LLP sets, with flexibility in the selection of the engines included in each batch.

The Paris-based Norton Rose Fulbright team advising Société Générale was led by partner Alexandre Roth, with support from associates Lorraine Viard and Elahé Hoseiny.

In addition, Norton Rose Fulbright acted as special aviation counsel to Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) on its US$1.2 billion Exit Financing from Chapter 11, which won Restructuring Deal of the Year and marked SAS’ successful emergence from Chapter 11.

The Norton Rose Fulbright team, led by partners Owen Mulholland, David Rosenzweig, Fiona Henderson and Will Alete, with support from senior counsel Francisco Vazquez and counsel Louise Auty advised on all aviation-related elements of the exit financing and related security package, and acted as special aviation counsel to SAS throughout its Chapter 11 process, working together with Seabury Capital as restructuring advisor and Weil Gotshal & Manges as bankruptcy counsel to SAS in connection with the restructuring of SAS’s fleet obligations.

Norton Rose Fulbright’s aviation lawyers work with airlines, banks and financiers, lessors and other industry participants on the full range of aviation legal services, including fleet selection programs, aircraft and engine financing and leasing, partnering arrangements with fellow carriers, travel companies and other third parties, regulation, restructurings, competition law compliance and aviation commercial contracts.
