Global Press release April 2023

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright, together with the World Bank Group (acting under its Joint Capital Markets Program – J-CAP) advised the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Morocco on bill n°58-22 amending and supplementing law n°41-05 on private equity funds (OPCCs), adopted by the Council of Government on 8 March 2023. The text was submitted to the Parliament on 20 March 2023.

This project aims to increase the attractiveness of the Moroccan legal and regulatory framework on private equity, especially by creating a specific regime for OPCCs restricted to professional investors (known as OPCCs with simplified operating rules or OPCC-RFA). This reform also aims to facilitate and increase the alternative financing of Moroccan companies (in equity and debt), especially for high potential and innovative small and medium-sized companies.

The Norton Rose Fulbright team involved in this project, whose members are based in Casablanca, Paris, London and Luxembourg, was led by partners Roberto Cristofolini and Alain Malek, and included senior associate Aurélie Pélisson and associate Sonia Aït Ammar.
