Norton Rose Fulbright expands cyber team with new partner
United Kingdom | Press release - People | July 2024
Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has appointed Tim Jones as a partner in its Global Cybersecurity and Privacy Group.
Tim, who has been promoted to the role from Special Counsel, advises on the full lifecycle of cybersecurity incidents, from initial incident response to containment and remediation, engagement with regulators, law enforcement and intelligence agencies, and advising on any resulting litigation. Tim also helps clients prepare for incidents and advises boards on cyber risk and the implementation of cybersecurity programs.
With a focus on large high-profile breaches, often involving listed companies, Tim has handled incidents in a range of sectors, including transport, financial institutions, retail, and utilities involving financially motivated and advanced persistent threat groups. He has particular experience in the investigation and understanding of the technical forensic aspects of investigations, and advising on the adequacy of a company’s technical and organisational measures pre-and post-breach.
Prior to focusing on cyber security, Tim worked in the firm’s white-collar criminal defence team defending prosecutions alleging bribery and corruption and complex fraud as well as advising on domestic and multi-national financial crime investigations brought by a range of national and overseas agencies.
Tim’s promotion comes as part of the global firm’s concerted growth in this critical area and follows recent hires of cybersecurity and data privacy partners Lisa Fitzgerald in Melbourne and Annmarie Giblin in New York earlier this year.
Global Head of the Cybersecurity and Privacy Group Chris Cwalina commented: “We’re delighted to announce Tim’s appointment. He has made an extensive contribution to our global team and has helped our clients navigate their most complex challenges around the world.”
Tim Jones commented: “I’m thrilled to have been appointed a partner. I look forward to working with Chris, EMEA partners Jon Ball and Marcus Evans, and the wider global team from Canada to APAC to support our clients on their most complex matters.”
Norton Rose Fulbright’s dedicated Global Cybersecurity and Privacy practice is composed of more than 90 practitioners based in many of the world’s key jurisdictions, helping clients manage legal and regulatory risks related to cybersecurity, privacy, information governance, eDiscovery, information technology, and eCommerce.
The firm’s clients include large corporates, government, critical infrastructure, and specialist internet and data-rich companies operating across a broad range of sectors including financial services; transport and aviation; life sciences, healthcare and pharmaceuticals; retail and consumer markets; insurance; energy; telecommunications and technology.
