Norton Rose Fulbright’s Global Chair, Farmida Bi CBE, has been included in the Heroes Women Executives Role Model List 2022, supported by Yahoo! Finance. This is the third time Farmida has been included in the list, which showcases leaders who are championing women in business and driving change for gender diversity in the workplace.
Farmida is celebrated for her commitment to diversity and inclusion across the firm and wider industry, including her focus on increasing the representation of women in management positions and supporting the firm’s ambitious gender diversity targets.
Farmida is also recognised for the initiatives she has spearheaded at the firm. This includes launching the Scholars bursary programme, aimed at widening access to the legal profession for students facing socio-economic barriers, and introducing a Race and Ethnicity Strategy alongside Europe, Middle East and Asia (EMEA) managing partner Peter Scott to increase Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic representation across the firm’s business. Farmida has also long been a sponsor and steering group member of the firm’s women’s network.
Additionally, Farmida leads the firm’s EMEA three-year strategic partnership with global NGO Save the Children, which tackles the disruption COVID-19 caused to education, providing pro bono, volunteering and fundraising support. She also drives the firm’s 2022 Global Charitable Initiative with Save the Children, which is helping communities affected by climate change.
Commenting on the accolade, Farmida Bi said: “It is an honour to be recognised alongside so many inspiring individuals, who share the same commitment and passion for creating more diverse and inclusive workplaces. At Norton Rose Fulbright, we’re dedicated to building an environment and culture where everyone can thrive and have access to the opportunities needed to reach their full potential.”
Alongside her management positions as Global Chair and Chair, Europe, Middle East and Asia, Farmida continues her own practice of debt capital markets and Islamic finance.
Farmida was previously featured in the Heroes 100 Women Executives Role Model Lists in 2020 and 2019. Earlier this year she was included in Financial News’ Top Fifty Most Influential Lawyers 2022 list and, last year, featured in Financial News’ 100 Most Influential Women in European Finance list for the third consecutive year, celebrated for driving change across the industry.
