Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has advised on six award winning deals as announced by TXF News.
TXF is a leading publication in trade and export finance, supply chain and commodity finance sectors and these awards recognise significant deals across the ECA-backed project finance and commodity finance sectors in 2017.
Deal awards received:
ECA-backed Shipping Deal of the Year
Advised Citibank on the French ECA supported receivable purchase financing and post-delivery financing in a total aggregate amount of approximately €2.5 billion for the acquisition of one Oasis class and two Edge class cruise vessels to be constructed by STX France for Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. Commodity Acquisition Finance Deal of the Year
Advised global commodity business Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) on the sale of both its Africa-based fertilizers and inputs operations. Lead partner: Jon Perry
Solar Project Financing of the Year
Advised Marubeni Corporation and JinkoSolar Holding Co., Ltd in relation to the US$ 900 million financing for the Sweihan IPP (independent power project) in Abu Dhabi. Lead partners: Charles Whitney, Chris Down, Peter Hall.
Mining Project Financing of the Year
Advised Nedbank Limited (acting through its Corporate and Investment Banking division), Nederlandse Financierings-Maatschappij voor Ontwikkelingslanden N.V (FMO) and Deutsche Investitions-und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH (DEG) (the Lenders) in relation to the project financing of the development, construction, operation and maintenance of a greenfield fluorspar mine located in Gauteng, South Africa. Asia-Pacific ECA Finance Deal of the Year
Advised Citibank, Australia and New Zealand Banking Group, Banco Santander, ING Bank and Standard Chartered Bank on a K-Sure covered export credit financing to Kia Motors India Private Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kia Motors Corporation. The dual-currency facility for up to US$648 million is for the purpose of financing Kia Motor’s US$1.1 billion automobile manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh, India which will have a production capacity of 300,000 vehicles per year. European/Eurasian ECA Finance Deal of the Year
Acted for SMBC, as lender, in a Sinosure-supported term loan facility to Development Bank of Kazakhstan for the purpose of on-lending to PetroKazakhstan Oil Products LLP (a joint venture between CNPC and KazMunaiGas-Refinery and Marketing) in connection with the reconstruction and upgrading of its Skymkent Oil refinery in Kazakhstan, the EPC Contractor for which was China Petroleum Engineering and Construction Corporation, a division of CNPC.
