Government Relations and Public Policy Briefing Series
Event Details
Webinar
United Kingdom | October 14, 2020Policy and legislative developments in the area of FinTech and markets in crypto-assets are gathering pace both in the UK and in the EU. In the UK, this includes the recently launched independent FinTech Strategic Review, which is to establish priority areas for industry policymakers and regulators to further explore in future work. It also includes the government's consultation on bringing the promotion of certain types of crypto-assets within the scope of financial promotion regulation. In the EU, the European Commission has recently published a comprehensive package of legislative proposals that aim to introduce a harmonised legal framework across EU-27 for markets in crypto-assets and to provide a sandbox-type regime for DLT market infrastructure.
During the second webinar of the Government Relations and Public Policy series, we will therefore aim to provide companies from the FinTech sector, crypto-asset service providers, token issuers, DLT users and other participants active in those markets with a comprehensive overview of priority policy and legislative initiatives that currently drive the agendas of European and UK policy and decision-makers, and including:
- UK Fintech Strategic Review
- Crypto-assets and UK rules on financial promotion
- Proposed EU legislation on markets in crypto-assets
- EU pilot regime for DLT market infrastructure
