Celebrating five years of the firm’s business and legal operations grad scheme

Norton Rose Fulbright is celebrating five years of its pioneering business and legal operations graduate scheme which saw its first intake in London in 2019.

The two-year programme mirrors the firm’s traditional training contract for graduates, built around four six-month rotations. Currently there are 10 seats to select from which include digital solutions; commercial management; innovation, legal design and technology; legal project management; legal operations consulting, GenAI, business transformation, applied technology, pricing, bids and a client secondment. 

Since then, over 25 university graduates have participated in the scheme. Six new graduates have joined the firm for the current September 2024 intake – the largest cohort to date - bringing the total graduates within the current two-year programme to 10.

Graduates have successfully qualified as consultants into a number of the firm’s business services teams, including digital solutions, applied technology, business transformation and legal technology. 

The Financial Times cited the graduate scheme in its 2020 Innovative Lawyers Europe report as an example of how the firm is a “fast moderniser” in the legal profession.

We set up the scheme to recruit and develop the next generation of talent with these attributes, to help us grasp the opportunity and to meet changing client needs. The graduates have surpassed our high expectations and we’re pleased that this programme has opened up a new pathway into careers in the legal profession.”
