German team advises PIB Group on acquisition of German financial and insurance broker contego

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has advised the British insurance intermediary group PIB Group on the acquisition of the Munich-based financial and insurance broker contego from its founder and CEO Jan Fries. This is another successfully completed transaction in the longstanding relationship between Norton Rose Fulbright and PIB Group for comparable transactions in Germany and further jurisdictions.
contego Finanzberatung GmbH, based in Ismaning near Munich, Germany is an independent financial and insurance broker specialising in risk solutions, financing, pensions and sophisticated financial products. For over 15 years, the company has been providing tailored solutions for companies in all sectors and of all sizes, now serving more than 3,000 clients nationally and internationally. A particular focus of contego is on cyber, D&O and E&O insurance, as well as real estate and high net worth individuals. After the acquisition, Jan Fries will continue to lead the company.
PIB Group is an international insurance intermediary group headquartered in London. The company was founded in 2015 and offers specialised insurance solutions for businesses and private clients. Its services include consultancy, brokerage and underwriting. With over 100 acquisitions in several countries, PIB Group has achieved strong growth. It currently employs more than 3,800 people and generates a turnover of over £500 million per year. The group aims to become a leading player in the specialty insurance sector.
