bp and Aspiring Solicitors student mentoring scheme
Increasing access to careers in law is a priority for our firm and we are committed to ensuring we improve diversity and inclusion in our own business. These ambitions contributed to our collaboration with bp in launching a mentoring scheme designed by Aspiring Solicitors, to help students from under-represented groups develop commercial confidence and confidence. This relationship is now well into its fourth year, and the scheme continues to grow in size and popularity.
Students are mentored by lawyers from bp and Norton Rose Fulbright across a variety of group mentoring and bespoke workshops, which help them learn what law firms and in-house legal teams are looking for in candidates. The scheme also provides a platform for students to start building networks with their fellow mentees and mentors, relationships which are vital to their future careers.
This year’s scheme saw 50 university students from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds taking part, with fantastic feedback from both mentors and mentees.
