Biography
Maya Angenot's practice focuses primarily on complex commercial litigation, before all levels of Quebec courts and in arbitration, notably in the technology and engineering sectors. She also leads a number of class actions related to pharmaceutical products, safety defects and dangerous products, and consumer protection. She acts on behalf of a diverse client base comprising Crown corporations and large local and international businesses.
Maya also has in-depth experience in matters of private international law, including the recognition of foreign judgments and foreign arbitral awards, contestation of Quebec jurisdiction, as well as the management and settlement of multijurisdictional class actions.
Maya was recognized in 2021 as a Leading Lawyer Under 40 in Canada by Lexpert magazine and a Lawyer To Watch in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory 2022.
She is Chair of the Litigation and Disputes Group for our Montréal office. Since 2024, she has been a board member of the Quebec Branch of the Canadian Bar Association. She is also heavily involved in the wider community and has sat on the boards of directors of various charitable organizations, including the Fondation de l’Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont. She is currently Vice-Chair of the provincial board of the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Class Actions
- Société des alcools du Québec, in a class action alleging dangers related to alcohol consumption.
- Three U.S. companies, in a class action alleging contamination of Quebec drinking water by certain chemical substances.
- Twelve Quebec universities in a class action claiming partial restitution of fees as a result of COVID-19-related measures applied during the winter 2020 semester.
- Symantec Corporation in a multijurisdictional class action relating to a computer security software (Norton Antivirus).
- Pfizer Canada Inc. in a multijurisdictional class action relating to the use of hormone replacement therapy (Premarin and Premplus).
- GlaxoSmithKline in a multijurisdictional class action relating to ranitidine products (Zantac).
Civil and commercial
- Airbus in a $250-million contractual dispute relating to the procurement of parts for the A220 aircraft.
- A consortium of engineering firms in a $68-million contract dispute over the design of the new Champlain Bridge.
- Krueger International in defending a $150-million claim alleging breach of a non-disclosure agreement and copyright infringement.

- AECOM Consultants Inc. in defending a motion for recognition and execution of a multi-million dollar judgment of the Supreme Court of Cameroon.
