The world needs electric vehicles and the batteries that fuel them, and it needs them fast. This will mean unprecedented demand for battery metals. China is the dominant force, and the rest of the world is playing catch-up, seeking to diversify supply chains amidst simmering geopolitical tension. In this context, the US has introduced the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) to stimulate its battery market and investment in green energy more generally.
