Megda Belkacemi
Biography
Megda Belkacemi practises employment and labour law. She advises employers under both federal and provincial jurisdictions on all matters of labour relations, particularly at the collective and individual levels, as well as on labour standards, industrial accidents and occupational diseases, occupational health and safety and human rights and freedoms. In the course of her practice, she has also gained experience in the area of pay equity and the application of the Charter of the French Language in the workplace. She represents employers before the Administrative Labour Tribunal and grievance arbitrators and before the civil courts of general jurisdiction, including the Superior Court of Quebec and the Court of Appeal of Quebec. Finally, she regularly provides strategic advice to companies on all matters relating to employees in commercial transactions, including mergers, acquisitions or corporate restructuring.
Megda's experience covers, in particular, municipal labour relations with respect to unionized and non-unionized employees. Prior to joining the Québec office, she practised labour and employment law in a municipal legal department.
