Turkey ratifies the Paris Climate Agreement
“The Law Regarding the Approval of the Paris Agreement” which was published in the Official Gazette dated 7 October 2021 and numbered 31621 entered into force.
Turkey signed the Paris Climate Agreement, an international treaty within the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, on April 22, 2016. The official ratification of the Paris Agreement by the Turkish Parliament took place on October 7, 2021.
The ratification of the Agreement by the Turkish Parliament is significant in that Turkey becomes subject to the targets of the Agreement. As of October 2021, 192 members of the UN Convention are parties to the Agreement.
