Update: CMS registration deadlines extended again due to COVID-19
Service providers who wish to use electronic messaging for commercial purposes are required to register with the Commercial Electronic Communication Management System (“CMS”, İleti Yönetim Sistemi). CMS is an online system which tracks consents given by recipients of commercial electronic communications. Click here to access our client alert from April 8, 2020 on this topic.
The Ministry of Trade announced on its official website on November 30, 2020 that the deadline for service providers to upload the consents acquired from recipients to the CMS has been extended in the following manner:
Service providers with more than 150,000 commercial electronic message consents:
Deadline for uploading consents has been extended to December 31, 2020 and the deadline for recipients to check these consents to February 15, 2021.
Service providers with commercial electronic message consents of 150,000 or less:
Deadline for uploading consents has been extended to May 31, 2021 and the deadline for recipients to check these consents to July 15, 2021.
Please note: (1) consents not transferred by the deadlines will automatically be considered invalid, and (2) recipients retain the right to withdraw consent at any time even after each deadline.
