Global | Press release | October 2019
Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright today announced that Isamu “Sam” Inohara, a corporate, M&A and securities lawyer with significant international experience, has joined its Tokyo office as a partner. Inohara, who focuses on complex cross-border mergers and acquisitions, comes to Norton Rose Fulbright from Morrison & Foerster in Tokyo.
Inohara has nearly two decades’ experience counselling public and private global Japanese and US-based companies on major cross-border acquisitions in various sectors, including financial institutions, transportation and technology.
Fluent in English and Japanese, Inohara oversees joint ventures, transactions and carve-out transactions involving multiple jurisdictions, including numerous deals between Japanese and US companies.
George Gibson, Norton Rose Fulbright’s Head of Tokyo, said:
“Sam’s capabilities complement what our team offers and will allow us to gain more of the surging outbound Japanese M&A business. His cross-border deal experience boosts our ability to execute inbound and outbound M&A transactions, especially involving the US and Europe.”
Gene Lewis, Head of Norton Rose Fulbright’s US Business Practice, commented:
“We provide businesses with access to incredible legal talent all over the world, and Sam’s addition underscores our desire to be everywhere our clients need us. Sam strengthens our team of global corporate lawyers, who advise clients across all key industries.”
Inohara, who is a Registered Foreign Lawyer in Japan, or a Gaikokuho-Jimu-Bengoshi in Japanese, said:
“Norton Rose Fulbright’s global platform and wealth of corporate experience will greatly benefit my ability to service clients. This platform presents significant opportunities for cross-border deals, especially given the recent low rates on financing acquisitions.”
Inohara is admitted to practice in California. He earned his JD at the University of New Mexico Law School and his BS at the University of Michigan.
