Biography
Michael Nightingale is an employment and industrial relations lawyer based in Sydney.
Michael has more than 20 years of experience representing and assisting private and public sector organisations with their employment and labour law requirements.
Michael's areas of expertise include recruitment and termination of employees and senior executives; contract and policy drafting; remuneration and incentive structuring; grievance and misconduct investigations; workforce restructuring and redundancies; industrial relations management; enterprise agreement negotiation and approval; provision of workplace compliance training; Corporations Act termination payment limitations; regulatory requirements for accountable persons and responsible managers; and advising on the labour aspects of corporate transactions.
Michael has significant experience representing clients in employment and labour litigation, in particular unfair dismissal, adverse action and discrimination claims; and actions to enforce confidentiality and restraint obligations. He is known for his effectiveness in dispute resolution.
Michael advises major Australian and international corporate clients from a wide range of industries, including banking, finance and insurance; fast food; retail, consumer and luxury goods; mining and engineering; and IT and technology, as well as government departments, statutory bodies and state owned corporations.
