Norton Rose Fulbright welcomes experienced real estate partner Astrid Beemster in Sydney

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright today welcomes new real estate partner Astrid Beemster in Sydney.

Astrid is highly experienced in real estate transactions and advisory work across a variety of asset classes. She has a history of advising institutional clients, including foreign investors in Australian real estate assets, but also fund managers, sovereign wealth funds, government authorities, high net worth and family offices, and major companies and developers based in Australia and overseas.

Astrid has particular expertise in advising investment funds on capital partnering and transactions, but also advises on development projects and leasing and asset management, and assists large companies on their premises requirements. Her focus has often been on commercial property (office, industrial and retail), however she also advises on rural and agricultural transactions, the property aspects of renewable energy and infrastructure deals, and build-to-rent and student accommodation.

Astrid joins from international consulting firm Ernst & Young, where she had been a partner in the legal team since 2020. Prior to that she was a partner at DLA Piper and a senior associate at King & Wood Mallesons.

Norton Rose Fulbright chief executive partner in Australia, Alison Deitz, commented:

“Astrid has built a strong market reputation in real estate law, and is particularly well known for being a lead legal advisor on major real estate transactions for institutional real estate investors and companies across property and logistics, energy, infrastructure and student accommodation. Her significant experience and complementary skills will bolster our strong national real estate practice.”

Astrid Beemster commented:

“I am excited to be joining Norton Rose Fulbright, where my institutional property experience will be a great fit with not just the firm’s extensive national real estate team, but also with partners across projects and construction, corporate M&A, tax, banking and finance, and environment and planning. Being a global law firm, I also see significant opportunities to work with foreign investors that are attracted to Australian real estate assets.”

This appointment follow a number of additions to the Australian partnership in 2023: insolvency and restructuring partner Jenna Scott (Brisbane); consumer markets partner Nick Rimington (Melbourne); projects and construction partner Ben Bradstreet (Perth); financial crime partner Sonja Marsic (Sydney); corporate M&A partners Michael O’Neill and Tuanh Nguyen (Melbourne); international arbitration partner Daniel Allman (Sydney); cross-border litigation partner Paul Devlin (Perth); and projects and construction partner Glen Warwick (Sydney).
