A Comedy Night with Abnormally Funny People

Our Shine (disability and carers) network is delighted to host a comedy night with Abnormally Funny People, a group of gifted stand-up comedians strutting their funny stuff. All but one of them is disabled. They are all very funny people who use comedy to normalise the conversation around disability.

Simon Minty, disability and diversity consultant, will open with a short session about disability confidence.

He will be followed by three very talented acts*:

Don Biswas, described as a straightforward gag merchant. However, he talks about a wide variety of unique subjects, from having dyspraxia and mild Aspergers to his Indian family heritage, all through razorsharp one liners! He has performed for ten years and plays to a wide variety of audiences, from student gigs to corporate events.

Juliette Burton has performed many one-woman shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with total sold out runs from 2015 to 2018. In 2018 Juliette was listed as one to watch in The Times Best of Edinburgh Festivals shortlist, The Sunday Times Culture Pick and The Telegraph Top 25 Best One-liners from Rising Stars of Edinburgh Fringe.

Laurence Clark is an internationally acclaimed comedian, presenter, writer and actor who has cerebral palsy. His observational, political stand-up and hidden camera footage demonstrates the endearing naivety and ridiculousness of human behaviour by seeing the world through his eyes with humour and warmth.

We will close the evening with drinks, canapes and networking.
