Tom Sutherland is an intellectual property lawyer based in Toronto. He focuses on the acquisition, protection, and commercialization of intellectual property rights.

He has experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications in Canada and the US in a variety of fields.

While articling with us, Tom completed a secondment at a multinational pharmaceutical company. In law school, he served on the board of governors of the University of Toronto. Prior to law school, Tom researched nanoparticle formation caused by ionizing radiation for application in nuclear reactors and obtained his Ph.D. in nuclear chemistry.
