Biography
Marc-Simon Duquette is a business law associate in the Montréal office. His practice covers all aspects of corporate and commercial law, with a focus on mergers & acquisitions and other securities-related matters. He acts on behalf of public and privately held companies active in a variety of industries, from technologies, telecommunications and transport, to infrastructure and life sciences, regarding acquisitions as well as domestic and cross-border financings. He also assists in negotiating shareholder, partnership and joint venture agreements, and in various complex commercial agreements for major corporations, start-ups and SMEs.
Marc-Simon participated in our secondment program twice, once during his studies and then again in 2023, which allowed him to acquire experience in Quebecor Media Inc.’s legal department.

- Québecor Media and Vidéotron, in numerous domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions in the technologies, telecommunications and media industries
- BlueFocus Intelligent Communications Group, a Chinese public company, in the sale of a majority interest in its international group of marketing and advertising agencies, comprised of Cossette, Eleven, Citizen Relations, We Are Social and fuseproject, to a joint venture composed of CVC Capital Partners and Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec
- Groupe SNC-Lavalin inc., in connection with (i) the sale of 10.01% interest in the outstanding shares of 407 International Inc., owner and operator of Highway 407 in Ontario, to companies controlled by the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB), for an aggregate closing price of C$3 billion, and (ii) the transfer of SNC-Lavalin’s interest in the John Hart hydroelectric plant in British Columbia to the infrastructure investment vehicle SNC-Lavalin Infrastructure Partners LP
- SPI Health and Safety, a major occupational health and safety player, in the context of numerous mergers and acquisitions
- Investissement Québec, in connection with the filing, by BlackRock Metals Inc. and its affiliates, of an application under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act
- Bombardier Inc., in (i) the sale of its business aircraft training activities to CAE Inc., and (ii) the sale of its CRJ program to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries
- The Makivik Corporation and its subsidiary, First Air, in the acquisition of the airline Canadian North and the partnership with Inuvialuit Regional Corporation to create a pan-Arctic Inuit airline
- Beaudier Inc. and McInnis Cement Inc., in connection with the sale of a majority interest in McInnis Cement to Votorantim Cimentos
