Capital Markets Union (CMU) is about making the financial system more stable by broadening participation in capital markets (i.e. growth in non-bank finance), and encouraging investment in key areas such as infrastructure. Early key initiatives include recalibrating capital charges for insurers seeking to invest in long-term infrastructure projects and studying how to increase participation of retail investors in the capital markets.
