Biography
James Higby is a commercial litigation and regulatory lawyer based in Sydney, and acts for a broad range of clients in the private and public sectors.
James has a wealth of recent experience representing parties in large-scale, high-value commercial disputes and investigations concerning real estate, tax, telecommunications, technology and financial advice.
As an inclusive leader of a diverse team of driven and highly-motivated lawyers, James and his team partner with Government bodies, listed and unlisted entities and financial institutions to achieve results that support his clients' strategic goals in a wide variety of commercial disputes in the State Supreme Courts and the Federal Court of Australia. By understanding his clients and the industries in which they operate, James is able to provide reliable, technically-astute and commercially-focussed advice in the most complex of matters. James' deep regulatory experience includes acting in matters involving ASIC, ACCC, ATO, and APRA. He regularly advises regulators, corporations and/or their directors and officers in regulatory inquiries and related proceedings including in connection with directors' and officers' duties, trade practices and tax. James' extensive experience allows him to work together with his clients to assess risk and predict issues before they arise in order to formulate and execute a strategy to neutralise threats and mitigate adverse outcomes.
