Biography
Troy Vancil joined the San Antonio office in 2001 and has extensive experience in the defense of complex product liability and tort litigation nationwide, and has tried tort cases to a jury verdict. Troy's experience includes all aspects of trial litigation, including discovery, motion practice, liability evaluation, alternative dispute resolution, trial and appeals. He has extensive experience in handling product liability matters involving sport utility vehicles, passenger vehicles, passenger and truck tires, as well as industrial tools and equipment.
Troy's practice focuses on the defense of tort and personal injury claims, product liability, deceptive trade practices, consumer claims, transportation and commercial disputes. He has experience in complex trade secret protection and discovery scope issues. Troy has also had experience assisting clients with immediate responses to workplace accidents and disasters, defending employers in OSHA commission procedures, and helping clients with issues involving the Chemical Safety Board.
Troy is admitted to practice in state and federal courts in Arizona, Texas and Utah. He has appeared before courts in Arizona, Iowa, Louisiana, New Mexico, New York, Utah and Texas. Prior to joining the San Antonio office, Troy spent five years working as a litigator in personal injury defense, product liability and commercial litigation. He has led and assisted on several trials, administrative hearings on commercial issues and mediation resolutions.

- National Discovery Counsel for an Ohio-based tire manufacturer, handling discovery motion response, argument, and evidentiary presentation regarding protective order and complex trade secret issues, discovery scope, and large-scale discovery production issues nationwide
- Co-counsel at trial for an Ohio-based tire manufacturer and Arizona-based tire retailer in a month-long tread separation lawsuit resulting in a defense verdict
- Trial Counsel for North Carolina-based tire manufacturer, defending tread separation lawsuits in Texas
- Trial Counsel for Illinois-based equipment manufacturer, defending product liability lawsuits in Texas
- Successfully obtained the vacation of OSHA violation related to oil industry workplace fatality
- Represented clients before OSHA in matters related to falls from height, fires, heat exposure and falling equipment
