Following press reports on January 3, 2023, of a delay to the pre-launch testing of pensions dashboards, the Pensions Dashboards Programme (PDP) has admitted that the project is a “complex undertaking” as the onboarding deadline approaches.

There have been reports that the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) has not been able to meet the timelines for implementing the programme, which includes providing detailed testing requirements to the first group of pension schemes who will connect with the central hub. The first schemes, which are master trusts with 20,000 or more relevant members, are due to begin connecting to the dashboard by the end of August 2023, although some pension providers have said the timetable is “too ambitious”.

The PDP has said that the biggest challenge of the technical build is complete, and they are now focused on preparing to connect pension schemes and providers. It recently published a list of Q&As following its webinar on dashboard standards in December 2022. Past webinars, slides and all Q&As can be accessed here. It has also published a blog on the progress made in 2022.
