Social Impact
The community giving and volunteering initiatives as part of our Social Impact program further our philanthropic goals by making it easier for the firm and our people to make financial and personal contributions.
We have closed out the fundraising for our Global Charitable Initiative 2017 – Challenge 67 – raising in excess of R2.1 million (more than US$150,000). The funds that we have raised will be used to build a truly life changing project – the Menzi Children's Home in Tsakane, Johannesburg.
The Home provides much needed, permanent accommodation for the children who were previously living in cramped, unsanitary, temporary housing.
We would like to thank all our people who helped to fund-raise, and to those who travelled to South Africa in February 2017 to break ground for the project.
Over 167 colleagues from 24 offices around the world descended on Tsakane, Johannesburg to help build a facility for Menzi Children's Home. The team dug foundations for the facility, made bricks and concrete furniture, painted doors and created a mosaic statue of Nelson Mandela. With the aid of Food and Trees for Africa, our team also planted a sustainable food garden at Vuyani Primary school.
