Biography

Zach Woods is a disputes associate in Norton Rose Fulbright's Dallas office. Zach has helped represent clients throughout the various phases of litigation, including trial. He has helped both pursue and defend claims such as breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud and tortious interference. Zach has also assisted clients in navigating criminal investigations. Clients have ranged from a variety of sectors including construction, real estate development, oil and gas, beverage, higher education and consulting services.

Trial experience:

  • Assist in a four-day arbitration in Austin, Texas that resulted in the client obtaining the full amount sought for breach of contract, plus an award for attorneys' fees and costs.
  • Assist in three-day arbitration in Dallas, Texas that resulted in the client obtaining effectively a "take-nothing" judgment despite the other side seeking over US$3.5 million in damages.  

 

Discovery experience:

  • Spearhead the document review for complex-litigation based out of California involving tens of millions of dollars in disupute and hundreds of thousands of produced documents. 
  • Review key documents that were ultimately used in the above-mentioned trials. 
  • Review privileged documents for a client that was cooperating in a police investigation involing a third-party's conduct. 
  • Review key documents for a client that was being investigated by the federal government for violations of the False Claims Act. 
  • Prepare requests for production and third-party subpoenas to collect more documents to use at trial.

 

Additional experience:

Zach also helped prepare for and attend multiple depositions of key witnesses, draft critical research analyses that is frequently used in motions and briefs submitted to the court and help prepare for and attend judicial hearings on substantive issues.
